Trend lists are usually written by people who do not run infrastructure. This one comes from what we are doing for clients this year.
1. Leaving VMware
The licensing changes pushed a lot of businesses to look at Proxmox and Hyper-V. The move is routine now: clustered hosts, shared iSCSI storage, live migration, and a backup that restores. Most of our virtualization work this year has been exactly this.
2. Backups that ransomware cannot touch
A backup on the same network as the servers is not a backup. Clients are asking for offsite copies, immutable storage, and scheduled restore tests with a report they can show an insurer.
3. Multi-factor everywhere
Not just email. VPN, remote desktop, admin consoles, and the line-of-business apps. Cyber insurance renewals are driving this as much as security teams are.
4. Live operational dashboards
Managers want to see the warehouse as it runs, not in a report on Monday. Grafana dashboards against Sage X3 and Sage 300 have become one of our most requested projects.
5. Onboarding as a pipeline
New hires set up in 20 minutes instead of a day. Accounts, access, and notifications handled by automation, with IT tickets opened for anything that still needs a person.
None of these need a big budget. They need someone to own them. Talk to us if one of these is on your list.
